Sharnell “Sista Big” Tull is a poet, orator, and visual artist raised in Pocomoke City, Maryland. As a poet, she has performed in various cities and venues, captivating audiences with her powerful voice and presence. Sharnell hosts a monthly open mic in collaboration with the Pocomoke Public Library and is affiliated with the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District. She also serves as a member of the Worcester County Commission for Women.
Her talents have been showcased by the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, and she was selected to participate in the Undercurrent 02 event at the Salisbury University Art Gallery in 2019, where she delivered her poetry. Sharnell has graced the stage at the Maryland Folk Festival, Salisbury Pride, Eastern Shore and Pocomoke City Juneteenth celebrations, and AFRAM in Seaford, Delaware. In 2024, she was honored as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.
One of her most cherished collaborations is working within local school systems—specifically with Pocomoke High School and Bennett High School—where she shares her poetry and helps students develop their own voices through writing.
